My Reflection

I have been learning to write a fractured fairytale using what I have learned about narrative structures and features. My fracutured fairytale was based on little red riding hood.
The best part of this was giving the story a twist.

Understanding the Purpose of the Characters in the Text

My Reflection
I have been learning to relate to the characters in the text to understand their purpose.I used a venn diagram to compare Ivan and Stella in the story the one and only Ivan . This made me realise the differences between the characters but also what made them similar .
My Next Step Is To

Be able to use this information to make inferences about the purpose of the characters.

3D Shapes

My Reflection

I am learning to recognise and describe 3D shapes using mathmatical language .

I found this really tricky because i don't really know how to figure out  3D shapes such as cylinders and cones.

My Next Step Is To

learn about symmetry.

WALT Solve Our 6,7 And 8 Times Tables Using Our 5 Times Tables

My Reflection

WALT solve our 6,7 and 8 times tables using our five times tables.

I found this tricky because it is really tricky for me to figure out my 6,7 and 8 times tables and at least to try and learn my 6,7 and 8 times tables off by heart.

MY Next Step Is To

try and listen and remember my follow ups so i won't forget what to do. 

Character Description

W.A.L.T write a character description using adjectives. 

I found this picture tricky to describe  because  honestly I did could not find any words to basically describe my character. I used my 5 senses to write 5 different sentences about my character .

My Next Step Is To

add more interesting adjectives to my character description.

Identifying Common Themes In Fairy And Factured

I have been learning to identify common themes in fairy and fractured tale. We read two narrative called Little Red Riding Hood and Into The Forest. A common theme I made from the story was the woods . I found this tricky because i always forgot the features and themes in the books.
My Next Step IS To
try and find more features and themes in the book.

This is my Maori God Art. We read a Maori myth called in the beginning. I drew Tawhririmatea and used some adjectives to describe him. We used cool text to publish the words . I enjoyed this activity.

I found this hard because I could not find anything in the persuasive writing so it was really really hard for me but lucky my teacher helped us. We have been learning to compare and contrast different celebrations . My group researched information about Diwali . Something I found interesting was how Diwali is a light feastival and they celebrate it because their  celebrating  it because it was for Rama-Chandra . Next we worked with another group and used a venn diagram to compare our celebrations . things that was the same was they both had spiecal food.

I have been learning to respond to a text using my prior knowledge and experience. We read a story called 'a birthday cake for grandma'. I was able to make a connection in this text when Lucy,Josh and Mum made a cake for grandma .

I have been learning to use my knowledge of prefixes, and suffixes to read and under stand the meaning of words.A prefix is a group of letters that come at the beginning of the that can change the meaning of the word
A suffix is a letter or group of letters at the end of the word to form another word with a diffrent meaning
I found this tricky because it was difficult to find out which one is the preffix, suffix

This is my pepeha art.A pepeha is a way of introducing yourself in Maori. I have included my maunga (Mountain) ,my awa (river,my culture and a place which is speical to me . My favourite part of this was drawing and coloring the pictures and blending the colours .i engoyed doing this art.

I have been learning to find and summarise information in non-fiction texts.
I found this work interesting because of how the animals use countershading.  I need to improve my work  by using my own words and tryiny the best in my presntaion.

I have been learning to collect data using a tally chart and show the results on a bar graph.I found this tricky because it was confusing  and hard to keep focus.
I was surprised with my results because of  how many people chose one of them .

Welcome to my Year 4 learning blog. This year I am in Room 12 and my teacher is Mrs Melville.  i enjoy maths and running.  This year I am looking forward to learning and having fun with my friends and my teacher. I hope you enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
